[X-Ray for Jira][Configuration error]: "view-issue-section.error.custom-fields-not-configured.title"

After getting our Jira admin to setup X-Ray for Jira - there is problem, when I create a X-Ray "Test". In the "Test Details" section, we get this error message: " view-issue-section.error.custom-fields-not-configured.title" "view-issue-section.error.custom-fields-not-configured.message" (see also attached image) I hope someone here might have had a similar experience and know what to check.

Xray presents that error message when its needed Jira custom fields aren't setup.

As @guilherme answered, that's a sign you're missing a configuration step.
The quick setup instructions detail the typical setup operation you need to follow to setup a project. Xray is quite flexible, so it means you can decide several things during that process.

We started to separate fails and other errors in our reports from the beginning and see that welcomed by readers of the reports. The fails are an outcome of a test that is somewhat expected. When seeing a pass or fail the reviewer will know that the basic logic has worked. When encountering an error it's a clear sign that the test itself has failed to operate as expected. Users later requested that automatic screenshot logging also differs between the two (logScreenshotOnFail and logScreenshotOnError) which I would count as a proof that the differentiation makes sense and is wanted.

We have simple simple solution for this Either you can convert your Expected variable and Actual variable to Lowercase or Uppercase before asserting them, so your code should like below. I found myself in that very same position last year. With a team of around 12 devs and only 2 QAs we used up all our time testing features and couldn't do the (IMHO) more important work of improving processes, making our test infrastructure better and also carrying out some more long term initiatives that would improve things from a quality standpoint. Plus on a more selfish side it was a pretty lousy career wise as we couldn't do other stuff. What I did was take the discussion with my manager, I explained the problem and how serious it was then tried to come up with a roadmap to fix it. With my manager's approval I got the entire team together and started working on the whole "shift-left testing" approach. First the two of us trained every developer on how to read our reporting tools, how to run tests and what to look for when a test fails (to detect flakyness, automation bug or actual defect). Then I created pipelines and scripts to make running tests as simple for the as possible. We event went as far as trying to link everything with Slack so a regression could be triggered from chat... but had to drop this due to other limitations with our Jenkins connection. Developers would be in charge of testing their features. At first they would send us PRs for unit/int/e2e test cases so we could check they were covering all important scenarios. Alongside that we kept working on our frameworks and code to make everything as easily to expand and understand as possible. After about 6ish months of that the team does task estimation by taking testing into account and they are comfortable enough with our frameworks that everyone can review QA/test PRs so I'm not even the bottleneck in that (the other guy left so, I'm the only QA). The best part is that I hardly ever write tests anymore... I write the infrastructure and frameworks we need and keep pushing for CI/CD and only get down to writing tests when some huge feature comes along. Your milage will certainly vary and I was really lucky to have a team that wants to take ownership of every aspect of the features they make so they were pretty onboard with the transition but that is how I handled that very common scenario.

Three tips: For logging this much detail, you can implement the WebDriverEventListener (as dzieciou already said in his comment). A great explanation is found on toolsqa. This will clear up your actual code to a great extent. If you want other (further) things in your log, consider using helper methods for common actions. This will again greatly reduce duplicate (logging) code. If you ever want to change something to the logging system, you'll have much less refactoring work. For example: //Fill Username public void FillUsername(String userNameEntry) { Helper.fillText(userNameField, userNameEntry); // static helper method in a separate class public static void fillText(WebElement el, String s){ el.clear(); log(...); el.sendKeys(s); log(...); You're using JAVA. Please consider Log4j, which is very flexible in which messages to show. Your Logging_level variable is fine, but Log4j has five default levels (Trace, Debug, Error, ...) and is easily configurable. Worth looking into!

I do not know what features QC delivers for running automated tests, but this is what I would do to maintain a Selenium test-suite: As a test runner for Selenium just use a unit-test runner in the language you are developing your tests in. Most xUnit-tests runners generate the same result files, which can be parsed by report generators for reporting. To schedule these test-runs I would advice using a continuous integration server, and to let all tests run on each commit/check-in in the source control system. (Understand which new code breaks what test, as soon as possible.) For CI products look at: Jenkins, open source. TeamCity, commercial but with limited free version. Cucumber tests can be executed manually or through automation. No matter what, I would recommend to use Xray as the single source-of-truth. To distinguish what tests are to be executed manually or through automation, you can define your own rule for that, like having a specific label on the test. Then, you can build a Jira filter to filter out those tests.. and in your CI tool (e.g., Jenkins) you can use that filter to only pick the relevant tests to be run by the automation.

As I understand from this stack trace it is issue of Element is not clickable. For this exception, following problem : Page is not loaded properly. The syntax for setProperty() method is: System.setProperty("<driver we want to use in the program>", "<path where the driver exists>"); As per the question, In java you have mentioned correctly. In TestNG, in place of 'driver to be used' you have mentioned 'driver path' and in place of 'driver path' you have pointed to null. As I see this, you've got several problems here, all of them communications problems. You are not communicating to your clients what known issues are in each sprint release. This leads to the client teams finding bugs that you already know about, wasting their time, making you look less capable to your manager, and wasting your time. Your clients are blaming you for not finding the known issues. Your management is blaming you for not finding the known issues. I'd suggest you try something like this: Send a known issues list - Build a report from Jira of bugs reported but not fixed in the current sprint. You will need to make sure there's enough information in the report that the client users will be able to tell if a problem they find is one that you've already reported. Tell clients about the known issues list - If you communicate directly with the client test team, all you need is "Yes, that issue was reported on (date), and has not been prioritized for correction yet." No blame, just state the facts. If you're not the one communicating, make sure the person who is knows about the known issues list and has a copy of it or a link to it. Tell your management about the known issues list - If your managers don't know you've already reported the problem, they don't know whether your team was doing their job properly or not. If they can see a list of reported bugs that matches up to the issues the client reports, they know what's been reported. Obviously, anything the client reports that is actually a bug (and not a stealth feature request, not user error, and not an unforeseeable problem like someone trying to install modern software on Windows 98) is something your team needs to analyze to work out why it was missed, and how to prevent similar misses in the future. The most important thing is this: do not blame anyone. Even with the best people and the best environment, things will go wrong. Your teams goal is to analyze the actual mistakes to determine why things went wrong.

You can pause the test run, then save and close. All the attachments you've created to that point will be saved. When you're ready to come back to the test, you'll need to return to the point you left and located the unfinished run (Test > Analyze Test Runs), then Resume. You should be able to pick up where you left off.

My recommendation would be to build an automation suite, on the base of the product. Then, to have your testers manually test the differences in the product based off of your client requirements. Unless you hire other testing resources, automation will do a lot of the testing for you, in the base product.

For the REST service testing Postman and HttpMaster are good tools. It supports dynamic parameters, validation of response data, various data viewers, etc. If you are looking for performing load testing of the REST services than Grinder and JMeter open source tools can be considered.
