Is it possible to stop a Pokemon evolving via trade in Gen 1?

If I level up a Pokemon and it's about to evolve, I can hold down B to stop it.
What about if I trade Kadabra, Graveler, Machoke or Haunter? Can I stop them from evolving when I trade them somehow? I tried it just now and held down B, and they seemed to evolve anyway.

Unfortunately, no.

In Gen 1, the only way to stop a Pokemon from evolving was by pressing B. However, evolution stones and trading trumped pressing the B button.

Yes - you can use Magic Launcher with Minecraft 1.6 Choose 1.6.x from the 'Environment' dropdown. As for the new Minecraft launcher, I still find Magic Launcher to be more functional.

There are no trade restrictions between gen 4 games. I have traded from HG and SS to Platinum. For D/P/P You must have received the Pokedex from Professor Rowan at Sandgem Town For HG/SS You must have received a Pokedex from Professor Oak at Mr. Pokemon's house (North of Cherrygrove City) You would need 2 DS consoles and then just head to the Union Room, found in the Pokemon Centre, on both games and trade from there. You will need 2 Pokemon in your party to be able to trade. Issues arise when trading between generations (gen 3 to gen 4, for example) as Pokemon, their Moves and their Held Items, may not exist in the past or future.

Looks like it's just the amount of experience needed to level up to 100 and the number of egg cycles needed to hatch. Capture rate can change Gender ratio can change (most obviously, in gender-specific evolutions like Gallade and Vespiquen. But also for Azurill and Marill) Base happiness can change Egg groups can change (for baby Pokémon like Pichu) Everything else, like types, stats, and abilities, obviously changes in many cases.

A similar strategy to your Lorelei strategy should work. However, because Agatha has both Pokemon immune to Horn Drill or Guillotine and Pokemon immune to Fissure, you need a Pokemon who has access to both. Fortunately Nidoking has both, available at level 16. Use Double Team ASAP to reduce the chance of being hit by Hypnosis. Whenever you get hit by Confuse Ray or Night Shade, use a Full Restore (or Full Heal if just Confuse Ray). If you get put to sleep, immediately use the Poke Flute or a Full Restore if damaged in order to avoid Dream Eater. Continue until you are at max evasion. The only way Gengar can KO you in one turn is if you take both Night Shade and confusion damage without healing, which is why we heal as soon as either happens. After using Double Team six times, then use 6 X Speeds + X Accuracy to outspeed and OHKO her entire team. Unlike Lorelei, being weak to one of Gengar's types does not guarantee it'll use it. So you should have at least 57 HP to survive the first Gengar's Night Shade. Agatha has a small chance to switch each turn which is RNG based and unavoidable. Switching to Haunter does not change the strategy as well as the second Gengar if you have at least 61 max HP (though if you KO a Pokemon beforehand, you may gain that experience from level up). Switching to Golbat, however, can be troublesome because of Haze to remove your boosts. It is for this reason that I do not recommend using Substitute since it is both not needed and the turn taken to use it increases the chance of her switching. Of note, you could use the same Nidoran that you used for Lorelei in the same Elite Four Battle, provided that you let it evolve into Nidorino after Lorelei, bring a Moon Stone to evolve it into Nidoking, and bring the TM Fissure to teach it after becoming Nidoking.

There is (currently) no way to change a villager type's trades using a data pack. But you can detect the career using commands and then change the trades directly. This example command makes all clerics trade one stone for one stone one time until it refreshes (so they become the most useful villagers ever): /execute as @e[type=villager,nbt={Profession:2,Career:1}] run data merge entity @s {Offers:{Recipes:[{buy:{id:stone,Count:1},sell:{id:stone,Count:1},maxUses:1}]},CareerLevel:3} This command has to be put into an always active repeating command block in the spawn chunks or into a ticking function. Explanation: You have to use execute as with the selector and then data merge entity @s instead of directly using the selector in /data, because for some reason that command only allows a single entity. /execute works around that. {Profession:2,Career:1} is the NBT of clerics, so you can filter the villager type that way. The changed NBT should be pretty self-explanatory, except for CareerLevel:3, that makes it so that the villager doesn't generate any new trades after the ones you have given him. I used this villager summon command generator to get a /summon command for the villager with the correct trades (because I'm lazy, the wiki page (archive) with all the NBT tags would work as well), copied the NBT and removed profession and career from it, since I don't want to change those. Here (archive) are the villager profession/career IDs for matching the right type.

After you got me interested, I did some research. Apparently, it was distributed through a machine called the Mew Machine (Celebi in Generation II): A person has posted on a forum about this machine, and his speculations are as follows: I got a feeling that there are 2 Super Famicom's inside aswell as 2 Super Game Boy 2's that are linked with eachother.. but I'm not quite sure about the rest. Besides the monitor... I'm afraid I can't find any concrete/official sources on this, but it seems like you were right about how it was controlled! Additionally, I've found some sources stating that the Mew was simply traded (as I originally seemed to remember) in some regions. This was done using a "special" gameboy and game version, loaded with several level 5 Mews. It appears to be a regular gameboy with Pokémon Blue, though somehow modified or loaded with the Mews.

You were playing Pokemon Red or Blue, and this is known as the Missingno glitch. This glitch is rather interesting, so I'll include some details on how it works. Essentially, there was an oversight in the code that made the right edge of Cinnibar Island (where there's the black-ish border) have some unique properties. It counts as a zone where wild Pokemon can spawn, but it also does not specify which Pokemon should spawn there. Because of this, it always uses the Pokemon that were in the last zone that you visited. Thus, it's useful for catching rare Safari Zone Pokemon, because you can battle them for real, putting them to sleep and damaging them, rather than relying on the luck of the Safari Ball. But that's not enough to explain how Missingno came about. There's more to it. Here's where talking to the Weedle Man comes into play. When you talk to the man in Viridian City who teaches you how to catch Pokemon by demonstrating on a Weedle, there are some interesting things done with the game's memory state. Pokemon uses all the memory available on the old Game Boy cartridges already. But at this point in the game, it wants the player's name to show as "OLD MAN" rather than whatever the player chose. In order to do this, it must copy the player's name to an unused portion of memory. Namely: The area where the Pokemon spawn rates for the current zone are stored. Usually this hardly matters, because when you enter a new zone, those values will be overwritten by the ones for the new zone. But if you go straight to Cinnibar Island and ride up and down the coast, some weird things start happening. Since it doesn't reset which wild Pokemon can spawn, and the last thing in that area of memory was your character's name, not a real spawn table, there are a whole variety of possible outcomes. Pokemon spawn higher than level 100. The Pokemon that spawn are random, depending on the characters in the player's name. And Missingno appears, when there is no real Pokemon corresponding to the data in the table.

Thats because the statue tile has no specific property what it is. For example a grass tile "knows" it's grass therefore you can encounter wild Pokemon in it. The statue has no such property thats why the game automatically sets it to water because that is as far as I know the first property in the games code.

Back when your question was asked there were a lot of communication errors and server errors. These have since been resolved. I too have seen this happen to me once or twice. And I've seen it happen on other people's phones too. This was a communication error with the server. The Pokemon are there, just not displayed.

If you have the Thunder Badge (3rd badge) from Vermillion City, you can use the trainer fly glitch. Below instructions are summarized from Bulbapedia: Prerequisites: Make sure you have not encountered the Gambler on route 8 or the Youngster on Route 25 Play until you reach Vermillion City and earn a Thunder Badge Teach a Pokémon Fly Steps: Stand directly beneath the Underground Path entrance door on Route 8 so the aforementioned Gambler will be exactly one tile offscreen. (Optional: Save the game so you can reload if you make a mistake) Take one step down, and then press and hold the Start button while the step is occurring. The start menu should appear before the gambler "sees" you. From the start menu, Fly away (with the most convenient location being Cerulean City). If done correctly, the Gambler will have an exclamation mark above his head, but the Fly animation will begin before he can challenge the player. Walk to Route 25 and battle the aforementioned Youngster. You must have at least 1 tile between yourself and the Youngster when the player is spotted, otherwise the game will soft lock. Open the start menu and fly to Lavendar Town. Head west to return to Route 8. Upon entering the Route, the start menu will appear by itself; closing the menu will immediately begin a battle with a wild Level 7 Mew.

That's normal, it is just the lowest possible result of attempting to capture a Pokémon. While in later games wild Pokémon always get inside a Poké Ball and then shake 0, 1, 2, or 3 times before breaking out, in first generation games the worst result was not getting the Pokémon in a Poké Ball at all.

It is not really possible to tell if it is too powerful without engaging the battle. Once you started the battle, you can tell by their level. The ability to catch higher level pokemon is tied to the number of gym badges you acquired so far. It goes as follows: No Badge: up to level 20 First Badge: up to level 25 Second Badge: up to level 30 this goes on in intervals of 5 levels all the way up to 8 Badges, at which point the level cap is removed. The pokemon can spawn with different levels as well, take your Onix encounter as an example. Consider you having 1 badge meaning you could catch Onix up to level 25, you might encounter one that is level 30 or higher, meaning its too powerful. However there are also lower level Onix spawns as well, say you encounter a level 10 Onix instead meaning it would not be too powerful to catch.

First and second generation games are completely incompatible with third generation and later games. There is no way to transfer a Pokémon from the original releases of Red and Blue to Sapphire and Emerald.
