Do encounter-rate modifying effects stack?

Effects such as the Illuminate ability and items such as the White Flute both increase wild encounter rate, however, do these effects stack? For instance, does using a white flute AND making use of Illuminate at the same time have an additional increase of encounter rate over either individually?

You should note though that Illuminate and a White Flute don't stack sadly.

TL;DR - Read only Bolded The short answer, No. The long answer, Yes. In your mind you should classify Armor and Resists as Damage Reduction. Block is a different kind of damage reduction and its value scales. Dodge is not Damage reduction, but rather... Damage mitigation. I will try to explain below with an example. Your enemy Level 60 (mlvl) Average Damage: 20,000 Assuming you have the following stats: Level 60 Hit Points: 20,000 Armor: 750 Resist All: 75 Dodge: 16.7% Block: 20% Average amount blocked: 4,206 (3,706-4,706) Formulas you need to know: Damage reduction from armor: Armor / (mlvl * 50 + Armor) Damage reduction from resist: Resist / (mlvl * 5 + Resist) Calculate Dmg Red from Armor: 750 / (3,000 + 750) = 20% Calculate Dmg Red from Resists: 75 / (300 + 75) = 20% HOW DAMAGE YOU TAKE IS CALCULATED Are you hit? You dodge 16.7% = Take 0 Damage You are hit 83.3% = Take Full Calculated Dmg Calculated Damage: Monster's Base Damage = 20,000 Damage you take after Armor Reduction = 20,000 * (1 - .2) = 16,000 Damage you take after Resist Reduction = 16,000 * (1 - .2) = 12,800 So the average you will take per hit is 12,800, before blocking is applied. Block happens after your resists are applied, which happens after dodge is calculated because the need for a damage calculation is nullified by dodge. We established that after dodge, you are getting hit 83.3% of the time, of which you will block 20% of the time for an average of 4,206. You are hit = 83.3% Do you block? 20% yes = damage taken reduced by 4,206 80% no = take full calculated damage Average Damage taken table: Dodge = 16.7%, take 0 damage Hit but block = 16.66%, take 8,594 Hit no block = 66.64%, take 12,800 If you were attacked 100 times, you could roughly expect to dodge 17 attacks, get hit 83 times, block 17 times, not block 67 times. When hit you will take a weighted average of 11,959 instead of 12,800, due to blocking. The total damage you will take from all 100 attacks is roughly 996,168 damage, or weighted average per attack of 9,962. WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE FROM ALL THAT? Instead of taking 20,000 damage per attack, you are taking 12,800 (36% damage reduction) from the combination of Armor and Resists. Your shield only reduced effective incoming damage by 6.7%, and your dodge reduced incoming damage by 16.7% (for attacks you can dodge). HOWEVER, you can not dodge all attacks. "Ground Based Attacks" like plague or desecrator can not be dodged. Anyway, my recommendation (if you managed to read this far) Get +Resist All on nearly all items if you are concerned about survival. It is an easy to overlook stat. It has the same benefits as armor, but you are forced into getting items with armor, resists are optional. Shield becomes more useful as the amount of damage taken lowers (increasing armor & resists). The above example gives you enough information to understand the basics of how the damage you take is calculated. If you had instead had 7,000 Armor and 700 resist all, the damage reduction would be 70% from each and the average damage taken per unblocked hit would be 1,800 (reduced by 4,206 when blocked... to zero). In this case, the shield reduces the effective damage taken by a full 20% on most hits (the monsters damage is actually a range and could roll maximum while the block amount rolls minimum, resulting in possibly taking damage). In scenario's like the later, items like Justice Lantern, Helm of Command (Unique Ring / Helm with +% block) become very effective, as well as shields having +% block.

If you mean to ask: Do I need to play Mass Effect 1 to enjoy or understand Mass Effect 2? Although the entire franchise is enjoyable - No. You do not "need" to play ME1 to understand or otherwise enjoy ME2. Mass Effect 2 has a preface that brings players "up to speed" so they have all the pertinent information to fully understand what has happened and what is happening. It also allows players to make choices regarding events in Mass Effect 1 so that you're not stuck in a different story than someone who played Mass Effect 1. Enjoy your ME2, as is.

Off the top of my head: These abilities activate when the Pokemon is in the first spot of the party: Intimidate & Keen Eye: Decreases the chance of encountering lower-level wild Pokémon by 50% Stench & White Smoke: Decreases the chances of encountering wild Pokémon (not just lower level) by 50% Arena Trap & Illuminate: Increases the chance of encountering Pokémon to 200%. No Guard - Increases the wild Pokémon encounter rate to 150%. Static: Increases the chance of running into Electric type Pokemon by 50% (in areas that have electric types) Magnet Pull: Increasess the chance of encountering wild Steel-type Pokémon by 50% (in areas that have them) Synchronize: 50% chance that wild Pokémon encountered will have the same Nature as the Pokémon with Synchronize. Cute Charm: Increases the chance to run into the opposite gender to 66.7%, regardless of normal gender ratios. Compound Eyes: Increases the chance of wild Pokemon holding an item from 50%/5%/1% to 60%/20%/5%. Swarm: Increases the chance of encountering wild Pokémon. Suction Cups & Sticky Hold: Bites will occur more often while fishing. Hustle, Pressure & Vital Spirit: Increases the chance to run into higher-level Pokemon. Sand Veil: Decreases the wild Pokémon encounter rate by 50% in an area with a sandstorm Snow Cloak: Decreases the wild Pokémon encounter rate by 50% in an area with a blizzard Quick Feet - Decreases the wild Pokémon encounter rate. Most if not all of the above abilities are still active even when the Pokemon is fainted. These Abilities will activate regardless of their position in the party: Flame Body / Magma Armour - Halves the number of steps needed to hatch eggs. Pickup - 10% chance of creating a held item for itself, even if the Pokémon was not used in battle. Still active while the Pokémon is fainted Items get better the higher the level of the Pokemon Wont activate if the Pokemon is holding an item. Honey Gather - Similar to Pickup, may collect Honey after a battle Wont activate if the Pokemon is holding an item. The chance increases the higher the level of the Pokemon. 5% at levels 1 and 10, and going up by 5% every ten levels, ending at a 50% chance from levels 91-100. In generations past: Immunity: If your Pokemon is poisoned, it won't take damage outside of battle. Theoretically still active in the current gen, however poison damage outside of battle has been removed. Hyper Cutter: (Pokemon Emerald) Increased the range of Cut when used on tall grass. From Gen 4 onward you are unable to Cut tall grass Lightning Rod: (Pokemon Emerald) Trainers registered with the PokéNav's Match Call function will call more often if a Pokémon with Lightning Rod leads the party. If Tamara Wijsman's formula is correct, hp can be factored out of the formula. Also, there's a 12/100 factor I saw from uesp. resulting damage = damage * (1 - armorfactor) armorfactor = 0.12 * (hidden armor + displayed armor) / 100 hidden armor = 100 Which gives these values. 50 armor -> 18% reduction -> 82% damage taken 150 armor -> 30% reduction -> 70% damage taken 317 armor -> 50% reduction -> 50% damage taken 442 armor -> 65% reduction -> 35% damage taken 567 armor -> 80% reduction -> 20% damage taken The hidden armor in the formula is when wearing four pieces of armor (chest, head, hand, legs). If you are wearing robes or hood, or are missing feet or hands, then hidden armor is less than 100 and you get less reduction. This reduction in reduction is not reflected in the displayed armor rating. Finally, damage reduction is capped 80%, so 567 is the maximum displayed armor rating that is useful when wearing four pieces of armor. 667 is the maximum displayed armor rating that is useful when wearing 0 pieces of armor.

All Pokemon on the Gameboy games are trapped there, as there is no way to get trades from Red/Blue/Yellow/Green/Gold/Silver/Crystal to FireRed/LeafGreen and Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. You can however, move Pokemon from FireRed/LeafGreen and Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald to Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and HeartGold/SoulSilver, and then transfer Pokemon from those to Black/White and Black2/White2. Soon, Nintendo will release a way to move Pokemon from 5th Gen to 6th, but it is not released yet. In summary, there is no way to get Pokemon from Pokemon Red/Blue and other 1st and 2nd Gen games to any future installments. EDIT: With the release of the Pokebank, you can move Pokemon from the DS games to the 3DS games with ease. It does require paying a yearly subscription for the Pokebank, but it is relatively cheap, only being 5 USD a year.

No. The only thing in the game that currently checks the weather, is the getWeatherMod function, in "calendar.js", which returns 0.15 (+15% bonus) during warm seasons, and -0.15 (-15% penalty) during cold ones. Note that weather only changes when the season changes, and is added to the season's own effects; a warm spring is thus +65% to catnip, and a cold winter is -90%.

Charizard (and theoretically, Moltres) are Flying and Fire types and thereby command total domination in a fight with Paras or Parasect, whose types are Bug and Grass. This set of match-ups is the only one where both of a particular Pokemon's types are aligned perfectly against its opponent. Movesets, however, only express one type at a time. This leaves us two other pairs: Golbat with Wing Attack and Air Cutter vs. Paras/Parasect with Bug Bite or Fury Cutter and X-Scissor; Omastar with Rock Throw and either Ancient Power or Rock Slide, vs. Charizard with Ember and Flamethrower or Fireblast. Note that only certain Omastar from prior to the moves update still have Rock Throw, however. Pairs with less-than-total elemental domination are more common. No. Destiny Bond has a normal priority, so it will go after priority moves, and before or after other normal priority based on the pokemon's speed and other factors (Trick Room, etc).

Yes, it does stack. I played a game where I had multiple knights which were all leveled up with both March (heal every turn) and Medic (+1 heal to unit and adjacent). When they ended the turn surrounding each other, they'd be able to get more than +2 (depending on how many Medic units were next to them).

No, you have to be moving for rustling tiles to spawn. Per Bulbapedia: A phenomenon will vanish after it is encountered or if the player picks up a visible item, interacts with an NPC, or exits the area or room entirely; it will also vanish if an NPC steps on it. Repels stop the random encounters but not the rustling grass encounter.

There are no official insignias, flags, or logos for each region. The closest representation I was able to find was either the badge collections for each region, or map artwork. There are lots of other options for things you can do to uniquely represent each region, however, including referring to them by name, by their Kanji, or by League Trophies (though Hoenn and Sinoh are very similar, and Kalos doesn't have one yet). There are also a number of different fan created variations on what flags might look like all over the web, including some inspired by the real life regions the maps are from, which may work as well.

Given the answer to the original sphinx's riddle, you shouldn't look at this so literally, especially the "three legs" phase. Consider this: Slakoth is clearly on all fours, much like a human baby. Vigoroth follows, proudly standing on two as a man in his prime might. Slaking has, however, reverted to a three-limbed stance, just like an elderly man with a cane.

I think you could start a scoreboard, something called effectLevel for example. You could then run a series of command blocks that gives all players with effectLevel score 1, level 2 effect. This is just a brainstorm idea from me, as I'm not familiar with scoreboard commands, but I believe that would work.
