Should I save books in my inventory in Neverwinter Nights?

I am playing Neverwinter Nights. I keep finding books and I am retaining several of them in my inventory. Should I be saving random books from bookshelves and book piles or selling them?

Things like journals that are useful for quests should obviously be kept, at least until the quest is done.

The books only give you interesting stories, and sometimes backstories to in game events and characters, but there is no actual use.

I'm a bit of a pack rat though, so I collected all of them in stashes. The https://nwn.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Book_items mentions those you could get rid of as having a plain, grey or blue cover, so should be easy to distinguish from quest and other items.

Yes, you can make magical stuff. Whether it's useful will depend on your character, though somebody in your party will probably benefit tremendously from custom weapons. I found Keen to be a particularly valuable attribute, since most of my builds relied on crits (My dual-wielding kukri weapon master/thief dealt critical hits 55% of the time, gibbing most enemies on the first sneak attack). In later NWN2 expansions you can craft some especially potent items, especially from unique materials (Belt of +8 strength, for example). You could do some pretty crazy stuff in the original NWN2 campaigns too, like the mithril full plate wearable by a bard (with the skill that lets bards wear medium armor, of course).

You'll have the option if you want to overwrite or not. When copying data using the Save Data Utility, if the destination (whether the PS3, a storage device or the PS+ online storage) already has a save of the same game (on the same slot, if applicable), you'd see a prompt asking you if you wish to overwrite the save, so you can do the copy process without worrying of accidentally overwriting your save. However, using a system transfer or restoring a backup completely removes any previous data on the target console, so if you wish to keep the saves on your new console, make sure to copy them beforehand to a storage device or PS+ storage, then restore them after the transfer/restore completes.

700 Mb sounds like there's an underlying issue causing a lot of bloat. Ensure that all your mods are well tested (read comments on the mod pages on the nexus) and that your load order is correct (LOOT also warns you about known issues with some mods). I tend to agree with user Katana314 that some mod is causing a huge amount of bloat. One thing you can try as a temporary solution is go to some indoor cell (your house, etc) and wait 10 or 30 ingame days (various things in the game have different respawn timers). This will essentially reset most cells in the game and can reduce your save size. However, the size you describe is totally out of order, so you should definitely look among your mods for potential trouble makers (posting your load order with a question like this is never a bad thing).

Ok, I reread the NWN wiki about multiclass penalty. So the penalty is defined as anytime character's classes are not nearly the same level. You do get a racially favored class that does not count in the split. My racially favored class is a fighter (due to me being a human, and it being the highest), so this doesn't count towards it. Which leaves just the Rogue Level which has no other class to be even with. Making me have no multiclass penalty. I would have to take another class and then level it up total 3 times to get a multiclass penalty.

I answered this question on my own in a complicated way. I am still waiting on other forums for an easier answer but I might as well post my solution here. The issue is that the event loaders didn't actually load the scripts when you activate the item. The items are built to run on the x2_mod_def_act event which is not present in the original campaign. To fix this I changed the module properties of each original campaign module to include a custom script that calls both the normal even loader for that module and "x2 mod def" scripts. Here is the following process that I used. Step 1: Edit your nwnplayer.ini with the following entries under the "Game Options" category. This will open all modules for editing in the NwN tooleset: CODEWORD=hacktastic CODEWORD XP1=ffrodriguez CODEWORD XP2=barkeater Step 2: Open the toolset and then open the Campaign Modules option. The area we want is the "Edit > Module Properties > Events" menu. Listed are the two main features required to load this mod. Take note of what is listed in each. Image here: OnActivateItem OnModuleLoad Step 3: If nothing is listed in either of those slots then you can fill them with the respective mod label x2_mod_def_act for OnActivateItem x2_mod_def_load for OnModuleLoad Step 4: If something is already listed in those slots, such as m3q1modactivat, then you will need to load both the x2 script and the campaign script. To do this you will need to create a custom script. Right click on the scripts tree in the module and select "New". The new entry will need to call both event loaders with the ExecuteScript commands. Here is a sample: Step 5: Save the module edits that you made and you should be able to play through the original campaign with the the rod. To spawn it you will need to use the commands from the console (tilde key): DebugMode 1 dm_spawnitem extrodfastcast This needs to be done for each campaign chapter, unfortunately. It's about 10 minutes of work. There is probably a much easier solution. This also opens the door to conflicts to other mods that use the same loader as it will call them twice. It's dirty, but it works.

I have calculated 2230 as the maximum possible damage for a hit. But that doesn't answer the question. I can achieve this with a Paladin 21, Champion of Torm 14, Weapon Master 5 wielding a Scythe, ending with (STR/DEX/CON/INT/WIS/CHA) 14/13/8/13/14/26, having started at 14/13/8/13/12/16. You might think like I do every time I see that Class and Ability breakdown, that certainly I could shift some of the Paladin levels to more Champion of Torm levels, but I haven't found any other build that will reach these heights. I couldn't start with a higher Charisma score because I needed 13 in Dexterity and Intelligence for the Weapon Master prerequisite Feats and 13 in Strength for Power Attack. And the game wouldn't let me start Wisdom at any lower than 11. And I had to save my Champion of Torm levels until the Character hit a score of 25 in Charisma, because Champion of Torm allows of the selection of Great Smiting as one of its bonus feats, but it only provides a bonus Feat every other level for the first ten levels. Feats of note: Great Smiting X: Add ten times Class level to any Smite hit (Requires 25 Charisma) Divine Might: Add Charisma bonus to damage (Requires Power Attack) The Damage breakdown: Scythe: 13 (2D4, with +5 bonus) Strength: 12 (Strength 26, for +8 bonus, but two-handed weapon) Power Attack: 5 (If I have it, might as well use it) Holy Avenger: 6 (1D6, from Paladin spell Holy Sword) Prayer: 1 (Paladin spell) Divine Favor: 5 (Paladin spell) Divine Might: 14 (38 Charisma, from Feat) Divine Wrath: 5 (Champion of Torm Feat) Smite Evil: 385 (Great Smiting X, with 35 in Paladin + Champion of Torm levels) Critical Hit: x5 (Scythe x4, with Weapon Master Increased Multiplier feat) So, this can hit for 446*5 = 2230. I couldn't even fit Extra Smiting and Improved Critical (Scythe) into this build, so if this hit misses, the character better run quickly. One note: I suppose I could hit for slightly more on an Undead enemy that doesn't have Critical Hit immunity with Bless Weapon, but not too many Undead creatures can suffer Critical Hits.

I dont think you can do this, as a friend of mine (who also has a Mac) wanted to be able to switch between windowed and full-screen. While on Windows is Alt+Enter, there is nothing for Mac.

1) You can buy or craft more pouches or boxes with various storage sizes and properties (for instance, armorsmiths can craft a 'safe' box that holds 8 items that will not be sorted with compact or moved to collections unless you do so manually). 2) You can also unlock extra pouch/box "slots", via the in-game store. (At work; can't check the site/wiki to link URLs.)

With the Razer Synapse software you can remap keys. I wrote a blog post on how to do this with a Razer keyboard, but the process is similar with a Razer mouse. I recommend creating a new profile and then linking that profile to the Neverwinter executable. This will make the Synapse software automagically switch profiles for you.

You can't, unfortunately. Items in a merchant's inventory are provided "as-is", including stack count. Normally items sold by the vendor will be singles, except for ammunition, but items you sell to them stay stacked as you've seen. The only way to end up with one ruby would be to buy both, split them, and sell one back (at the normal vendor rate). As far as I know, this is true for all platforms, versions, and expansions.
