Does dexterity increase weapon art speed in Elden Ring?

Question says it all really. Does increasing dexterity in Elden Ring improve the cast speed of weapon arts?

No, it doesn't

Dexterity's effect information indicates that it "reduces the cast time of Spells" and it really is limited only to that. Of importance is that "Spells" encompasses both sorceries and incantations. Weapon arts are not considered spells, and thus are not affected by Dexterity's cast speed increase.

It's quite easy to get confused about this, though, especially when you consider the https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Sword+of+Night+and+Flame 's https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Night-and-Flame+Stance skill, which can be perceived as a sorcery. It scales with Intelligence and appears to cast as a spell, but it's still considered a "skill", so its cast speed is unaffected by Dexterity.

The only "necessary" item I can think of in Leyndell is the Bolt of Gransax, which is required for the "Legendary Armaments" achievement, other than that I second LessPop's suggestion to take a look at the wiki page.

Short Term Your top priority should be to get 30-40 Vigor to increase your survivability. It's around 30 Vigor that you begin to see a better return on investment from pumping points into health. Around 40 Vigor, you'll have ~1400 HP, which significantly increases your chances of surviving against most mobs. Long Term Invest in either Strength or Dex, depending on the types of weapons you want to use. When inspecting weapons in your inventory, you should see letters below the stat requirements. These denote the weapon's attribute scaling, from E (very poor scaling) to S (very good). In Elden Ring, the Uchigatana has an initial scaling of D/D for Strength and Dexterity, respectively. But according to https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Uchigatana , once upgraded to +25, a standard Uchigatana has a scaling of D/C, making it slightly better for Dex than for Strength. However, this assumes a standard infusion. A Keen ("sharp") +25 Uchigatana has a scaling of A in Dex. Lkewise, a Heavy +25 Uchigatana has a scaling of A in Strength. So the answer is that it depends. Do you want to make a quality build, where you invest an equal number of levels in strength and dex to give yourself access to a wide range of weapons? Or do you want to favor Dex or Strength? That in turn will influence how you infuse your weapon. Something to consider as part of this decision is whether you intend to use the Uchigatana (and similar weapons) on this character, or if you might one day want to use something else. As a rule of thumb: If a weapon is sharp and pointy, it probably scales with Dex. Examples include spears, rapiers, daggers, curved swords, katanas, and other weapons typically associated with agility, like bows. (There are exceptions to this rule, though.) For example, if you browse the Fextralife page on https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Katanas (spoilers!), you'll find that most of them scale with Dex.

This article lists all the paintings and sculptures and what to look for to see if they’re fake or not. Usually, it’s a variation of the real piece (different color, missing person/object etc), so if you know the paintings, it could be fun to first try to guess by yourself if it’s fake or not (and then double checking of course before buying ). To check by yourself, you'll have to use the option "Take a closer look" as the boat's lightning is (on purpose, wily Redd) almost inexistent..

According to the in-game book "Killing - Before You're Killed" by Eduardo Corvus, blocking with a weapon is less effective than blocking with a shield: You can also block without a shield as well - just cross that blow with your sword, though this isn't nearly as effective. And if you're fancy and want to wield two blades, you can't block at all, so don't even try. Without both hands on the hilt you won't have the strength to counter blows. According to the Elder Scrolls Wikia page on the Block skill, you also cannot block with a spell in one hand and a weapon in the other.

Tests: I did my tests in NG+, I tried to attack https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Elder+Dragon+Greyoll in Caelid and counted hits until first status damage proc, then rested on the nearest grace and tried again. I used 5 different weapons dealing from 50 to 105 either bleed or frost damage according to stats page. According to wiki this Dragon has 575 status resistance to both, but I'm not sure if this data is true for NG+. I used all types of attacks - one-handed (1H) and two-handed (2H), light (R1) and strong (R2), for strong attacks I also tried to fully charge each, and for 1H R1 attacks I tried to pause after each hit to match pace of slower strong attacks. Results: This table contains number of hits needed to trigger status effect damage with each weapon with each attack type. On slower weapons we see that it takes more strong attacks to trigger status effect. However, this could be explained by status buildup decay over time. When slowing down with light attacks, number of hits needed matches strong attacks. Charged attacks took even more time, hence more hits needed because of decay.

The experience starts summing up from the moment you unlock the weapon. You can easily check this by yourself: find a popular weapon you don't have unlocked yet dropped by some dead guy on the battlefield, and try to get 3-4 kills with it before you actually unlock it: these should provide enough experience to bring it to Tier 1 specializations. 3 are usually enough with all the bonus points kill gives, but do 4 just to be sure. When you finally will unlock the weapon, go checking the experience in the weapon tab: it will be set to zero, and you will not have any of the specialization unlocked. Check again by doing at least 4 kills: you should now see the first specialization getting unlocked for the first time. Source: Personal Game Experience, checked with mg-42, stg-44 and Kark98

Applying protection to a message prevents it from being automatically deleted whenever you place a new one down once you've hit the maximum number of messages for your character. After some tests, it seems that the maximum number of messages a player can place is 10. Once you've reached 10 messages placed, attempting to place another down will delete one of your previously placed messages in order to not exceed the maximum amount. Marking one of your messages as protected ensures that it won't be automatically deleted by this process. You can only mark 9 of your messages as protected. One of your messages has to be eligible for deletion should you try to place another message down.

Do only the main objectives for each story mission. do not worry about side missions and item collection. You can go back and complete the above after you get your 3rd convoy. Murder guards instead of spending large amounts of time to sneak around them, when given the option. When your notoriety goes up just bribe the town crier. You should still sneak when possible, but don't get carried away with it. climbing buildings and trees isn't the answer. Unlike in previous AC games, the rooftops are not an efficient way to get around in cities. in open combat, kill enemies with guns. I like to disarm the weak enemies and use their muskets on the difficult ones. I hear that smokebombs+hidden blade is effecient for killing large groups, the only limiting factor is the number of bombs you can carry. fast travel

Landing on the illusionary ground and falling through it will make you survive the fall. But I think doing a ground attack was what killed me. So probably as long as you don't do a ground attack you should survive.

To evolve weapons, you have to select the support item that matches with the weapon type, get the weapon to max level (you do not have to max out the support item), then the next chest will contain an evolved version of the weapon. Magic Wand + Empty Tome becomes "Holy Wand", which constantly fires magic with no delay Whip + Hollow Heart becomes "Bloody Tear" which deals more damage and has lifesteal Knife + Bracer becomes "Thousand Edge" which constantly fires knives with no delay Axe + Candelabrador becomes "Death Spiral" which goes through enemies. Cross + Clover becomes "Heaven Sword" which can randomly deal critical damage King Bible + Spellbinder becomes "Unholy Vespers" which makes the bibles never stop Fire Wand + Spinach becomes "Hellfire" which passes through multiple enemies Garlic + Pummarola becomes "Soul Eater", which increases power when recovering HP Holy Water + Attractorb becomes "La Borra", which makes the AOE fields huge and follow you. Additionally there is another upgrade that works a little differently. Peachone + Ebonywings are both weapons rather than a weapon and support item. If you max out BOTH weapons, you can upgrade them into a single weapon and regain a weapon slot (and unlock an achievement).
