How can I move a database from OnPremise to Azure using SSMS?

I have a large database, about 6Gig in size , its a .bacpac file and I want to copy it to Azure. I am using SSMS and selecting "Import Data-tier Application". It takes a very long time and i get an error "System out of memory exception"

How can I transfer the database to Azure ?

Depending on which flavour of Azure SQL is being used you may be able to implement https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/resource-governor/resource-governor or equivalent. This allows you to allocate a portion of the hardware to each workload. The large slow queries cannot flood the buffer pool. Many small queries cannot starve the others of processing quanta. Of course the machine is still finite. Each group gets less than the whole machine but is guaranteed to never get none of it. If all groups need more performance the instance has to be scaled up. If you are at the upper limit of scale-up the only option is scale-out, with replication or sharding as appropriate. Replicating 400TB may prove, umm, interesting; don't know, never tried. I should think at that scale you would command some attention from your local MS sales team. See if they can get you some time with an MS solution architect.

It's what @otacon070 tells you. Another possibility is to create an info.php file on both servers with a phpinfo() call and you can see the differences you have on both servers.

No connection is required from my point of view if you already created the Api Web or are creating it you just need to consume it. The api will drop the information in JSON in a serialized way, all you have to do is make the http request with the info url you need and deserialize it. .. It is more or less the same as moving the data files for a user database, but you can follow the steps in the documentation To Move the SSIS Database as it has some additional good precautions noted: Follow the instructions for moving user databases. Your threat model is focused on external parties breaking in. But the threats are broader than that. Low-level hardware backups, VM snapshots, and disposed hardware can all contain data. And because these things tend to be seen to have lower risks, they are often mishandled. So, it's not a "Mission Impossible" style of threat that is likely. It's the "eh, the drive is old, just toss it" style of threat that's the problem. Even for large cloud providers. And because, as you say, it's cheap and easy to implement encryption-at-rest, to not implement it is its own cause for concern and follow up questions. Human factor issues, like password policies and secure coding practices, are also very important, but difficult to assure, insure, and be consistent. So, technical controls tend to be the focus, regardless of the overall priority.

Yes, you can and should use multiple servers if you have a high load in your mysql. you need to see what solution works to you: Replication Master -> Slave: In this one, you will write(and also will be able to read) in the master server, and read from slave, Master -> Master: In this one, you will be able to write and read in both servers (they will be action as master and slave), you need to be careful with AUTO_INCREMENTS Cluster: You can have a look on mysql cluster, I'll recommend this option if you have more than 4 server (masters or slaves in total).

Those two methods are very different. Alter table mytable move mytablespace will move all the data blocks into the new tablespace. while it doing so, the table will be locked for DML. DBMS_REDEFINITION will allow you to create a new table on the desired tablespace and sync the data between them ONLINE. when the sync ends the tables names will be switched. you will have to be careful with DBMS_REDEFINITION as you have to create the new table youself including indexes, constraints, partition, privs, etc.

Likely candidates: Your database! Other internal services 3rd party services you call while responding to requests Your bank account Even with a stateless endpoint that doesn't use a database or external services, a large-scale DDoS attack can still run up such a large bill from your cloud provider that you chose to shut off the service until the DDoS attack ends. Yes, you can Copy the SQL database with encryption from one Azure subscription to another. But you have to move your database along with an Azure SQL Server. Not just the database itself. You can follow my steps as a workaround. I tested this successfully with the following steps: Subscription 1 Create a new resource group, an Azure SQL Server and Azure SQL database which is empty. Create a certificate and symmetric key. Example from Microsoft documentation. Certificate and Symmetric key. CREATE CERTIFICATE Shipping04 ENCRYPTION BY PASSWORD = 'pGFD4bb925DGvbd2439587y' WITH SUBJECT = 'Sammamish Shipping Records', EXPIRY_DATE = '20201031'; GO CREATE SYMMETRIC KEY JanainaKey09 WITH ALGORITHM = AES_256 ENCRYPTION BY CERTIFICATE Shipping04; GO Create another resource group in the same subscription as the staging area. Create a new Azure SQL Server and copy the database once the backup is available. You need this because when you move the resource they will not available at source after the move. Restore-AzSqlDatabase ` -FromPointInTimeBackup ` -PointInTime (Get-Date).AddMinutes(-10) ` -ResourceGroupName $Database.ResourceGroupName ` -ServerName $secondaryServerName ` -TargetDatabaseName $secondarydatabaseName ` -ResourceId $Database.ResourceID ` -Edition "Premium" ` -ServiceObjectiveName "P1" } Move Azure SQL Server and refreshed database to a different subscription. You can move to an existing resource group and create a new one. Use Move-AzResource command. Details here and here. Now copy the database to your existing SQL Server. Delete the resources in step 4. The particular statement you want to run - USE - is not supported by dynamic SQL. I therefore suspect what you want to do is not currently possible. If dynamic SQL did support the USE statement, you could have done: MariaDB 10.1: SET @sql = CONCAT('USE database_', @num); PREPARE stmt FROM @sql; EXECUTE stmt; DEALLOCATE PREPARE stmt;` MariaDB 10.3: EXECUTE IMMEDIATE CONCAT('USE database_', @num); Both result in: ERROR 1295 (HY000): This command is not supported in the prepared statement protocol yet The MariaDB knowledge base has a list of permitted statements that you can PREPARE. Effectively, this is a list of statements that can be used in dynamic SQL. EDIT: So instead I suppose you're left with options such as: Generate your statements as text -- un-roll your loop to a long list of statements, dump them to a .sql file and then SOURCE that file. Use a scripting language such as Python, bash, PHP etcetera. Do the loop in the scripting language. (Do not use prepared statements for the USE statement, obviously.)
