Slow loading of the internal storage folder in PC

Slow loading of the internal storage folder specifically when I connect my phone to the PC. A green bar keeps on progressing quickly at the beginning and seems to be slowing down as it reaches the end and still the folders don't appear. I am not able to transfer the files from my phone to the PC.

Please help.

Issue you're facing is mostly because of either of these two reasons:
1. MTP acts retarded when there are too many files
2. Windows acts dumb sometimes (switch to linux)
I don't really have a solution to either than switching to linux (as i did) for the latter

Now some REAL workaround to HELP you:
1. Connect Your phone and computer to same WiFi/hotspot or even connect your pc to the same mobile's hotspot
2. Download MixPlorer or any other file manager with FTP on your android device
then follow this guide

Firstly, what's the size of your device's internal storage, and what are these games you've downloaded? Because if you have 4GB of storage and downloaded something like Dead Trigger it would be obvious that you would run out of storage space. If it's still unclear why you ran out of storage, I would recommend two steps for you: Download file manager from play store (I personally use FX Explorer) and search for large files you've in downloads folder (or any other folders you could possibly junk). Download SD Maid and let it optimize storage for you. That should help in most cases, if not, let me know

After asking this question, I have installed two nightly on my device. March_13 : lineage-14.1-20170313-nightly-armani-signed.zip March_20 : lineage-14.1-20170320-nightly-armani-signed.zip Now, I can finalize something about this. You don't need to migrate data after each installation(nightly). if it is a clean install(after factory reset), then you need to migrate data`. if you are installing another ROM, then you need to setup as new by formatting sd card.(backup before installation to avoid data loss) Storage size may increase due to application data usages, but, you don't need to migrate it again. If you are flashing another ROM, don't format internal storage(format these partitions /boot, /data, /system and cache. This adoptable storage cannot be used on the newly installed ROM, but it will be available during installation [on recovery menu]). Also, if you're backing up current ROM, Adopted SD card data is also get backed up, but the app that uses SD card as storage will loss data after restore (You need to install those apps again). System decides which applications should save data on external sd card.(usually system apps and Gapps can use only internal storage, some user apps can be moved to external SD ) External SD card speed is slower than internal storage. Also, it may be the bug of TWRP recovery, which will be solved in future new releases.

Questions like these were made a lot of times, and require the repartition of the internal memory. As you can read in this question , this requires a custom ROM. I own an Huawei Y300 too, and I've found lots of ROMs and information there

Basically every app will store some data. Hence it increases when number of applications get increased. To get some free space, do the following: Press your device's Menu button → select Settings (or System Settings) Tap Application Manager (or Apps) Tap the app icon Tap Clear Data\Cache. Next thing is to disable\delete the application that you will not use. 6.Delete .thumbnails & also unwanted files by making it show Hidden Files 7.Delete the Social Media Apps Folder Ex:/sdcard/whatsapp. But Before that, Select & Move your Videos, Images, Files, Audios from Social Media Apps Folder. I thought I could use my nandroid backup to flash system.img, etc. to overwrite what's there but it's one big .win file. So I looked up the fastboot commands anyways and stumbled on an xda thread about un-bricking TF300s where they used fastboot erase on every mount point then fastboot flashed the stock firmware blob file from Asus' support website. Ran perfectly and now I have my tablet back! So all you need is fastboot to go completely back to stock. To get to fastboot: Shutdown the tablet completely. Hold the Volume Down button and the Power button at the same time. Let go when you see multiple lines of text at the top left and RCK Android Wipe as options. You are now in fastboot. To connect using a windows PC: Install Minimal ADB and Fastboot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42407269#post42407269 Install Asus Sync from Asus support website (to get the drivers). Open the Minimal ADB and Fastboot shortcut to open the command prompt. Connect tablet to the PC's USB. The PC should start installing the drivers. In the command prompt type: fastboot devices You should see a bunch of letters and numbers then the word fastboot. You're connected to the tablet now. In the command window the following commands will erase EVERYTHING from the tablet. I was already unable to use the tablet at this point so I had nothing to lose really. fastboot erase system fastboot erase recovery fastboot erase userdata fastboot erase boot fastboot erase misc fastboot erase cache fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system c:\adb\TF300t\blob (this is my path - your's may vary depending where you stored your blob) ((also this was the first time i saw the loading bar while flashing)* fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2179874&page=19 At this point, for me, the tablet was now completely back to 100% stock like it was just purchased.

This is a known issue. Go to app manager and find 'external storage' and 'media storage' and clear data and cache for them, then reboot, and wait up to 10 minutes and then connect to PC via USB. Sometimes media scan apps from play store help if you don't want to reboot.

In general, apps these days are built to put as much as possible on the SD card in order to save internal space. Some apps require being on the internal card for programming reasons, however. Generally speaking you can let them manage themselves. Otherwise you should keep all your own media, etc on your SD card so as to keep the internal one free for things like system caches, etc.

There are many apps out there which will help you know which apps are running in background and hogging resources with extra features from stock task manager. Few of good apps are Elixir 2-Application Monitoring Manager. Wake Lock Detector-Tells you which apps are keeping your phone in partial awake or in full awake state. Advanced Task Manager-Will help you manage running processes. Stay away from task killer apps they are no good and drain out battery.

Try installing SuperSU from google play. SuperSU has an option to unroot. Try multiple times (if it doesn't work once) and reset the phone this fixes the internal memory problem.

The answer is...It depends. As a rough equivalent between Android and Windows PCs: RAM = RAM Internal Storage = drive External Storage = drive etc... Allocation of RAM works differently in Android, vs. say Windows or Unix. The usual notion of more is better doesn't necessarily correlate here. As I understand it, it's diminishing returns once you go beyond what's required. Android basically tries to keep the apps/files you use most cached in RAM. Swapping in and out as it finds necessary. Once you're beyond what's needed, then it seems like Android just starts caching random and useless things. That's why if you use a Task Manager on your phone there always seems to be "stuff" running that you might feel inclined to just kill and free ram...But there's a lot of debate that says you should leave it alone and let the Android OS handle it. As for Internal Storage, I personally go for the biggest I can get in my budget. The Android OS files go there, all your settings, music, photos, and apps by default are installed here. Nowadays though internal storage offerings from manufacturers are larger and larger and options to put files on external storage are getting better and better. Considering today's offerings and requirements, I'd personally suggest when buying a new phone to get: At least 1GB, 2GB preferred (As new apps with more bells and whistles come out, their RAM footprint also increases. 2GB is still probably way more than most average people need, but it's quickly becoming the standard on newer phones anyway.) Internal Storage at least 16gb (Again, as new apps come out with more bells and whistles and cameras with higher megapixels and recording High Definition movies, they all keep demanding more space. The more you have now, the less you'll have to deal with later if you have to start cleaning up or moving things off to external) Get whatever the cheapest option offered with the phone (if it's offered) (Buying the external storage from a 3rd party is much less expensive and likely faster and more reliable).

To consolidate comments: I've found a fantastic guide to Android partitions and basics here via WIW's XDA post. /data is all your personal settings, messages, and information, while /data/data is specifically for your apps' private data. My guess is that wiping /cache as described above does not wipe /data or its child directories (otherwise you would've lost all your apps and settings). I don't believe I've ever run against the particular error you're seeing - when mine has trouble I just get tons of force closes :-/. However, my app settings screen shows me what must be the /data usage (never close to full, numbers match /data size reported by DiskUsage) even though my apps are actually constrained by the much smaller /data/data (where I run out of room often). I think it's giving you an error because of /data/data but showing you details from /data instead. That's confusing as hell. My dinc's /data is 748 MB and my /data/data is 149 MB. Sounds like that should be the same for yours (and others'). Until you give in to the dark side and root your Incredible (and are then able to see specific usage) you'll want to keep things below 149 MB (ish). FWIW, my biggest disk-hogs are Facebook and Dolphin Browser.

One method you can try is download and use Aroma File Manager. It's a recovery based file manager. Means you can access all files and do all file operations like cut, move etc. But not sure if it will work on un rooted device. But you can try.

"System Storage" is where the OS and the System Applications are installed. This could also be considered where the User application are installed (based on your question). User installed applications are installed in /data/apps, settings and app data is stored in /data/data, and then application cache data is stored in /cache. These are all part of the "System Storage". Internal Storage is an area that is used like an sdcard. As far as the Android OS is concerned, it is an sdcard. Some applications may save data to it, but it is mainly used as direct storage for your stuff. Like pictures taken with the camera, music, ringtones, things like that. You cannot just adjust the size of system memory. Is it technically possible, yes. But doing so could require you to have knowledge of linux tool, rooting, custom roms, recoveries, and even possibly having to compile your own linux kernel and ROM or other information that I am not thinking of at the moment. Which is well beyond the scope of this site.
