Here is the steps to connect my Android phone from PC over WiFi:

1.Connect the device and the computer to the same Wi-Fi network
2.Plug the device to the computer with a USB cable to configure the connection
3.On the computer command line type:

adb tcpip 5555
```
4.On the computer command line type:
```
adb shell ip addr show wlan0 
#i get the phones ip----192.168.31.86
```
5.On the computer command line type:
```
adb connect 192.168.31.86:5555
connected to 192.168.31.86:5555
```
6.Disconnect the USB cable from the device and check with adb devices
```
adb devices
List of devices attached
192.168.31.86:5555  offline
```
Why the status is not online when to disconnect the USB cable from my phone?

I came across a solution using airplane mode on another forum. The method is turn on airplane mode, then turn WiFi on again. After it settles, turn airplane mode off. I did this and it made a difference. Like it was trying to connect but was still struggling. So then I noticed that the time was not set correctly. Like it did it was 10am and it was actually 5pm. So quite the difference. I fixed the time and bam! Everything back to normal. I hope this helps some one!

I try to not read this as "is there an app...", as that would be off-topic according to our guidelines (see What topics can I ask about here? for details). So apart from looking for a different app to save some peanuts, you could live with the ads (according to its description, the app is available for free with ads; there's no note to the cloud feature being restricted to payment, neither does the related description on the product's webpage, nor the FAQ on How can I synchronize my devices mention that). according to Krampus' comment below, the cloud functionality seems to be restricted to "premium users" indeed, though none of the material cited says so Alternatively, there is the possibility to utilize a synchronized calendar (like the Google Calendar) for that: Create an event, which then is synchronized across your devices. So the alert should trigger on all of them.

The error message is caused by SSIDs containing more than 32 bytes. According to the Wikipedia, Unlike basic service set identifiers, SSIDs are usually customizable. These SSIDs can be zero to 32 octets (32 bytes) long, and are, for convenience, usually in a natural language, such as English. The 802.11 standards prior to the 2012 edition did not define any particular encoding/representation for SSIDs, which were expected to be treated and handled as an arbitrary sequence of 0–32 octets that are not limited to printable characters. The IEEE 802.11-2012 defines a tag that the SSID is UTF-8 encoded and when interpreting could contain any non-ISO basic Latin characters within it. Wireless network stacks must still be prepared to handle arbitrary values in the SSID field. Note that the limitation is 32 bytes, not 32 characters. While each character in ASCII encoding is 1 byte, characters in UTF-8 encoding can take up to 4 bytes. Example: Test consisted of 4 characters and 4 bytes. テスト consisted of 3 characters but 9 bytes. If the offending SSIDs are in your control, then the simple fix is by reducing their byte size (length). The check on the Android-side that produces this error message was added on April 2019, which is between Android 9 (August 2018) and Android 10 (September 2019). NativeUtil: Perform range checks on ssid bytes size NativeUtil.encodeSsid/decodeSsid should perform range checks because the output/input is coming from binder/hwbinder interfaces which assume the ssid is not malformed (i.e within spec mandated size range). Most of the callers of these methods already handle IllegalArgumentException (including the hidden network list built in WifiCondControl). This should fix the reported issue of a hidden SSID added with size > 32 causing crash in wificond.

Assuming you've got Android 4.0 or higher, you can do the following: Go to Settings→Data Usage Activate the limit by marking the checkbox, and moving the red and orange bars for "Deactivation" and "Warning" (hint: you can set them imaginary high to not have any effect -- but they must be enabled) Now scroll the list below the graph and tap the apps you want to limit. At the end of their resp. pages, you'll find another checkbox to limit their background data -- mark it. Limiting data usage Now those apps can no longer use mobile data without your consent: only actions you triggered yourself ("foreground data") will be performed by them, no sync in the background or other background activity. (Almost) Independent of the Android version used, but root available: You can use a firewall app such as e.g. DroidWall - Android Firewall or its successor AFWall+ (Android Firewall) to explicitly permit/forbid apps to use either mobile data or WiFi or both. You can use the email app that comes with your phone to access your iCloud account. 1.Open the Email app and tap the menu button in the top-right corner. (If you’ve never used the Email app before, just open it and go to step #3.) Tap Add Account. Enter your iCloud e-mail address and password, then tap Next. Select IMAP and tap Next. When you see the Incoming Server Settings page, remove the “@icloud.com” from your username. Change the IMAP server to “imap.mail.me.com.” Set the security field to SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates). Make sure the port is set to 993, then tap Next. On the Outgoing Server Settings page, change the SMTP server to “smtp.mail.me.com.” Change the security setting to STARTTLS and make sure the port is set to 587 and “Require sign-in” is checked. Tap Next to complete the process. Once you’ve gone through this list of steps and saved your changes, you’ll be able to access your iCloud mail via the Email app on your Android phone. It's possible that the USB cable is designed for charging only (i.e. not a data cable), or is of poor quality. Off-topic: Although not a USB cable, I have encountered OTG cables that could not detect a USB drive. While all networks you've connected to in the past are stored in a file called /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf, networks "just seen" around (but never connected to) are IMHO not stored to any file, but just "cached" in memory. So a simple trick to get rid of them is to enter airplane-mode for a couple of seconds (or a minute if seconds are not enough). With WiFi being disabled, the system should see no reason to "stick" to that "cached" information, and thus "forget" the unknown networks. As soon as you return from airplane mode, it would need to "rebuild" its cache again – but those "stickies" should be gone for good (until next time, maybe, but then simply repeat the action).

My first instinct was to use a bluetooth remote to control the player device, but it would require me to set up a playlist on the player device ahead of time, it limits the ability to play specific videos, and it won't let me control the volume. Instead I came up with a solution using another Android device as the control device: Copy videos to the player device Install Kodi to the player device Install Kore to the control device Start portable hotspot on the display device Settings > More > Tethering & portable hotspot > Set up Wi-Fi hotspot Get password Back > enable Portable Wi-Fi hotspot Connect the control device's wifi to the player device's hotspot Open Kore on the control device and follow the instructions to enable remote control on the player device. The instructions are also here: Kodi web server That's enough to enable controlling playback on the player device. However, if nothing is playing on the player and the screen turns off, starting playback from Kore won't turn the screen on. Here's how I worked around that: Set the display of the player device to never turn off. Based on the answer from here, install Automate and use the flow provided to keep the screen on. Alternatively, what I did is I created a flow that detects when Kodi is running, and if it is it 1. disables the wifi 2. enables the wifi hotspot 3. turns the media volume all the way up (the volume can be controlled from Kore using the volume buttons) 4. keeps the screen on. Set up a screensaver on the player device to blank the screen to maximize battery life Kodi > Settings > Interface settings > Screensaver > Screensaver mode > Black Other than higher battery use due to the display workaround, the only other downside I've found is that Kore doesn't support playlists, so you have to create a new queue every time.

Everything (the bootloader, the recovery, and the full system) is stored in the same flash storage, with different partitions for each. The bootloader has its own partition which also holds the kernel for the main system. The recovery has its own partition: it needs to be separate from the main system, else it would be no use for "recovering" or flashing a new OS. The Android system itself lives in the system partition. It doesn't really work like a PC at all. The first thing to load is always the bootloader. This is responsible for starting fastboot mode (aka bootloader mode), or starting the recovery or main system. In the latter cases, it also loads the kernel and ramdisk that will be used, which are in the boot partition. The boot animation comes from the system partition, and are displayed by Android proper. On some phones (such as most Samsung phones), the bootloader itself has a logo (with the manufacturer or device name), and this is written directly into the framebuffer as part of its initialization, very early in the boot process. The Android boot animation is much later, and is performed in parallel with the rest of the boot process, providing a visual indication that the phone hasn't hung.

Upgrading gapps to the correct version (I was running 10.1 gapps on a 10.2 CM build) solved the issue. I did not have to reinstall the ROM or anything like that, simply flash the new gapps over the old.

It's a DNS problem. Try using Google's DNS. Go into your router's advanced setup and change the primary DNS server to 8.8.8.8.

I have experimented with streaming audio from PC to Android over Bluetooth. Recent versions of BlueZ are able to sink an A2DP stream, but the build I have on my phone (Droid running Sapphire 2.0.2) is outdated and won't do it. You may have better luck. If that won't work, Android's media player may be able to receive one of the streaming protocols that VLC supports. Another poster may know more about this.
