Is the OpenGL book OpenGL active Programming Manual, 4th edition for 2015?
I'm programmer C#. I'm also studying the OpenGL + C++. Found the book "OpenGL – Programming Manual, 4th edition" Device, Neider, Schriener... ♪
Question: Does it make sense for today (December 2015g) to read this book if I want to use the latest version of OpenGL? I'll explain to you, not the question of the abstract "wise" but the exact relevance of this book for today, so as to get into the business as soon as possible and start writing 3D programmes on the latest version of OpenGL.
For example http://eax.me/books-issue-5/ There are comments that mislead me. It says obsolete graphics or something. And it's been for two years.
P. S. It's very difficult to do a lot in the OpenGL for today. Specifically, this does not apply to the C++ language, but to the 3D of the mystery type.
glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION),glOrtho..and so on, 3D maths. I would therefore be happy to receive any assistance on this issue.
No, this 2006 book doesn't make sense to start looking. There's a really opengl over there from a fixed conway to the programmable sheders, and all the old ones have lost their relevance.
These are relevant in Russian:
Both bought, well written, good translation. The first, really, is more of a detailed team and syntaxial guide, the second is interesting in terms of the decisions already contained in it: all fogs, lighting and other. In Russian, that's all that's in the right books.
In English, the superbible openGL, 6 edition - OpenGL SuperBible: Comprehensive Tutorial and Reference (6th Edition) http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4553108 ♪
Open English Rings can be found peacefully on the rutracker: you can find opengl - all that 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 can be seen, read, it's already a little more modern:
We also need to take into account that the openGL has a few different versions, they're similar in general. There's open-GL ES for browsers and mobile devices-- it's very popular now, I mostly work with her myself. For PC, I think open-GL 4 versions are now relevant.
If you want more material in Russian:
Good branch on 4pda: http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=418429 and Startandroid. Started a cycle of open-GL lessons, but there's so far little material that they'll get where they're going and write, I don't know. http://startandroid.ru/ru/uroki/vse-uroki-spiskom/397-urok-168-opengl-vvedenie.html
Some articles on camera work, matrices can be found in gamedev.ru. I get a lot of help sometimes, it's a good theory sometimes.
