Reference to server elevator file

I ordered a separate server repository where I wanted to place the beans, and the links to them were published on the website that was on the other server. I've downloaded files on a purchased elevator server, but I can't figure out how to do it so you can download them to users... the service provider only gave ID, Host, IP, login and password. It says I'll be connected by SSH, Rsync, FTP, Samba. The question is how you can get to the files without putting logs and passwords on the elevator, but the ip vendor just said that we need to build a server. How do I not understand that? ♪ ♪
Maybe there's some other way to reference files and hide logic and password from the user.

solved his problem in this way:
In the configuration file /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf installed anonymous_enable=YES and can now make references to files as anonymous:anonymous@123.123.123.123/pub/file.png
It would be great to find advice on how to configurate the access server at the http, but I can't googling. ♪ ♪

I will assume you mentioned a university as a point of the environment and are not considering censorship. But an OpenSSH server will work well here. While not advisable I assume you will use the root user, do ensure a respectable password is used, this goes for any user allowed for SSH login. If concerns that password authentication (interactive-keyboard) is not for you, look at public key authentication, using ED25519 521-bits or RSA 4096-bits. Regarding /etc/ssh/sshd_config harden the following: Port 30000 LogLevel VERBOSE LoginGraceTime 120 PermitRootLogin yes PermitEmptyPasswords no # Ideal session timeout ClientAliveInterval 600 ClientAliveCountMax 0 # Enhanced Authentication KexAlgorithms diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha256,ecdh-sha2-nistp521 Ciphers aes256-ctr,aes128-ctr MACs hmac-sha2-512,hmac-sha2-256 AllowUsers root I make a point to mention, CTR is preferred over CBC for OpenSSH exclusive, see: 'Plaintext Recovery Attacks Against SSH'. The port used for the SSH is your choice if exposed to the Internet use a non-standard port, because of botnets. Fail2Ban is a viable choice for brute force protection. Consider the following configuration: [ssh] enabled = true filter = sshd port = 3000 bantime = 600 findtime = 120 maxretry = 5 logpath = /var/log/auth.log Of course adjust based on your needs, as I long bantimes can be a problem if you accidentally lock yourself out. Furthermore, I would advise keeping Fail2Ban enabled if public key authentication is enabled. As it will reduce traffic in the event of a botnet brute force, and hence CPU consumption. Test your configuration with $ hydra -l root -P /root/rockyou.txt 192.168.1.100 -t 4 ssh where rockyou.txt is a wordlist. This is to ensure brute force protection is working properly. You can generate a wordlist with john or crunch or download one. Also, using nmap ensure the only open ports are those you desire to be exposed to your network interface. While I won't expand on it, OpenVPN is another viable option, but I only consider this over SSH when I need censorship circumvention.

Despite the connection, the port must still be scattered. At the end the flag may be added -N I'd like it to be. ssh -L 3306:localhost:3306 server -N♪ The flag indicates that the port should be abandoned without ssh commanders (in this case without access to the server).

As @klaustopher describes, the SSH tunnel uses a Diffie-Hellman key exchange, to establish a shared secret between client and server; this shared secret is used with symmetric cryptography to encrypt and check integrity of all subsequently exchanged data. As itself, DH+symmetric crypto is fine, but it does only half of the job. When the DH protocol has been executed, the both client and server know that they now have a secure tunnel with... someone. But they do not know who. They just know that this will be the same entity throughout the lifetime of the connection. So this is vulnerable to active attackers who impersonate the client, the server, or both. The famous Man-in-the-Middle attack is a case of double impersonation (the attacker acts as a fake server when he talks to the client, and as a fake client when he talks to the server). To make a completely secure tunnel safe for transmitting confidential data and sensitive commands, the client and server must authenticate each other. In the first steps of the protocol, the server signs what he sends (his half of the Diffie-Hellman protocol); the client verifies that signature with regards to the known server public key (the one the client stores in .ssh/known_hosts). Once the signature as been verified, the client knows that it is doing the DH key exchange with the genuine server, not an attacker posing as the intended server. This means that the client can safely send confidential data over the tunnel. In particular, once the DH has been done, the first exchanges go thus: (server) Ok, new client. We did the DH, I signed, you verified, you know I am the rightful server. Who are you ? (client) I'm Bob. (server) Prove it ! (client) Here is my password: bobisthemasteroftheuniverse (server) Ok, I do know of a "Bob" user, and that's the right password. Welcome, Bob. Thanks to the authentication of the server by the client (through the signature verification algorithm), the client knows that it can safely send his password in the tunnel. The SSH protocol also supports signature-based client authentication. The DH and signature by the server are still done as previously. But the protocol then goes thus: (server) Ok, new client. We did the DH, I signed, you verified, you know I am the rightful server. Who are you ? (client) I'm Bob. I have a key pair ! The public key id is: (...) (server) Yeah, let's see to that. Here is a bunch of random data, I challenge you to sign it: (...) (client) Here is a freshly generated signature on your challenge: (...) (server) Good. I know of a "Bob", his .ssh/authorized_keys contains a public key matching the id you sent, and your signature on my challenge verifies correctly with regards to that public key. Welcome, Bob. More or less the same thing happens with HTTPS. There are many local differences, e.g. the HTTPS client recognizes the server public key by validating a certificate instead of remembering it from a previous visit; and the password thing can take the form of actual Web pages; but the gist of the exchange is the same: the client makes sure that it talks to the right server by verifying its public key, and then the server makes sure that it talks to the right client (if the server is really interested in knowing who is the client) by running some sort of authentication protocol within the tunnel.
