What is the difference between the reference code, the package and the repository

  • I'm studying Linux. At this point, I'm going on the theme "How to put PIC in Linux." I can't understand what the difference between the installation by reference code, the package or the repository. I've been googling a lot of infuses, but I still don't understand!

Please help me to address this difficult issue, if possible, please explain to me the simple language, if there are examples, screams and what the differences in each mode of installation are.

P.S. As far as I'm concerned, it's when you set up every software file on your own.

  • the difference between the installation by reference code, the package or Repository.

    1. From the reference code:

      • Download the application reference code (usually github)
      • Dispatch the download archive.
      • make
      • sudo make install
    2. From the package:

      • You download the application package file (e.g.) wiring box.rpm
      • sudo rpm -i œuvée par.rpm
    3. Repository:

      • sudo dnf install ROMEI

I'm telling you, in the first case, you use your name. ArchivesSecond, name packageand in the third name Annex
