In Minecraft, what advantage do you have, playing on any difficulty, other than easy? Are there better rewards?

The reward is a bit more challenging gameplay:
- Mobs hit for more damage
- Much larger no-cancel radius for creeper explosions
- If your hunger bar depletes, you will die (your health stabilizes on lower levels)
- Zombies break down doors
- Only way to play "hardcore" mode (i.e., you die, your world's deleted)

Sounds like it's probably just a bug (general or incompatibility). That's a very early version that was not tested well at all. Also, if you use the same data folder as you used for a newer version before, that often leads to crashes.

Yes, it is possible without creating a server, you are able to do this by opening your world to-LAN. Then port forwarding you Computer's Local IP and the port created by opening to LAN. Then giving your Public IP to your friend. This may seem confusing, let me demonstrate. If you are on Windows you can find your Computer's Local IP by opening Command Prompt (CMD) and typing "ipconfig" and then pressing enter. If you are on Mac you can find you Computer's Local IP by opening System Preferences and selecting "network". Make sure that your Minecraft World is opened to LAN You can find out how to Port Forward here. NOTE: When entering the port, the port will be the one that is in the chat in Minecraft. You can find your public IP by googling, "Whats My IP" Now all you have to do is give your friend the IP. NOTE: The format in which you enter the IP into Minecraft is "IP:PORT". An Example is "192.168.0.1:25565".

According to the Minecraft Wiki: A fire block can turn any air block that is adjacent to a flammable block into a fire block. This can happen at a distance of up to one block downwards, one block sideways (including diagonals), and four blocks upwards of the original fire block. So anything 4 blocks underground should be fine. Also, from plenty of experience in the game, I can assure you that only blocks marked as flammable will ignite. To check this, search for the block on the Minecraft Wiki and look for the flammable tag in the block info.

Dinnerbone has answered this question on reddit: Will the terrain generator ever be updated to use the full 256 blocks of build height? It's intentionally designed to only go as high as it does right now. Maybe in the future, or with different generators/options, but right now we're happy with the extra breathing room for players.

So here's what I got: I had to fire up the old xbox-one for a few of these, but I found the rules are the same for minecraft-java-edition and minecraft-bedrock-edition: Block(s) Effect Soul Sand and Soul Soil These blocks will change behavior drastically when the player is wearing boots enchanted with any level of the Soul Speed enchantment. When these requirements are met, they will speed the player up, rather than slow them down (for Soul Sand). Slime Block and Bed Both of these blocks will normally make a player bounce when falling onto them, but if the player is crouched whist falling onto one of them, it will behave as a normal block and administer the same amount of fall damage as usual. Scaffold The Scaffold will allow a player to walk on top of it, but if the player crouches they will start to descend. Powder Snow If a player is equipped with Leather Boots, they will not fall into the Powder Snow but rather walk on top of it. Ladders and other climbable blocks Ladders will normally move players down if they are not pressing the Jump key, but if a player crouches it will allow them to ascend the Ladder, but not descend. Interactive blocks (Chest) Any block that the player can interact with, such as: Chest, Crafting Table, Furnace, etc., will only allow a player to use it if they are not crouched. Otherwise it will act as a normal block and allow placing of other blocks on it. Water Water has quite a few, but some of the main ones are first, the Depth Strider enchantment, allowing a player to move quickly underwater. And second, crouching makes a player sink faster.

First of all, you need to make sure that this .zip file isn’t a Minecraft Java world. This is because Education Edition runs on Minecraft Bedrock 1.14. If you’re sure it isn’t a Java world, just rename the file extension (the .zip) to “.mcworld”. Be sure not to install a map from 1.16+ or else it won’t work due to it coming from a later version.

Minecraft is written in Java, so it should "adapt" itself to both 32-bit and 64-bit systems (depending if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit Java runtime). While Minecraft itself is not optimized for 64-bit, it will take advantage of JVM optimizations for 64-bit processors. Basically, this means more general-purpose registers available (16 in 64-bit against 8 in 32-bit, which means better machine code and less RAM access, improving performance) and larger addressable memory. On the other hand, since now pointers take up twice as much space, there is a little extra overhead for using 64-bit. But you should also think about the operating system, as it will also take advantage of 64-bit improvements. If you have more than 2GB or 3GB of RAM, your operating system should be 64-bit, else it won't access all RAM (or will have a considerable overhead doing so). And if you have a 64-bit operating system, you should also go with a 64-bit Java Runtime for better performance (as other users already commented). By the way, in my opinion, you should always go to 64-bit unless you have a very good reason to avoid it, like compatibility reasons (which is not this case). Related question on StackOverflow: Does Java 64bit perform better than the 32bit version? Wait a minute! I talked code written in Java, but how about native libraries? Like OpenGL support and OpenAL? They are available on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, and the correct version will be loaded. And I can confirm that on my Linux 64-bit system, it loads the 64-bit version of those native Java libraries. (as an experiment, I've deleted the 32-bit versions and Minecraft still runs fine)

The problem is that the command will run as myusername only IF the chicken is within 5 blocks of the command block. You can get it to check "at" your location instead with this: execute at myusername if entity @e[type=minecraft:chicken,distance=..5] run say chicken nearby Working with the execute command in 1.13 has been very challenging for me. I think the biggest problem is understanding the order of operations. It seems that "at" goes before "if" but "as" runs after "if".... But I'm speculating right now. Seems like a lot of work needs to go into understanding this very complex command.

I'm pretty sure that Turbo Mode speeds up the gameplay, requiring you to play the game faster. For a beginner, I recommend Normal Mode as you have more time to react.

The entity selector has several arguments I think you'll find useful for this kind of situation. r=6 (as you probably know) targets entities within a spherical radius of 6. rm can be used to specify a minimum radius. and dx dy dz can be used for a rectangular region. http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Commands has a nice list and explination of all valid selector arguments. For your problem, I would use something like /gamemode 2 @a[r=10,m=0] followed by /gamemode 0 @a[r=5,m=2] but there are many ways to do this with the available selectors

The error: "OpenGL: ~~ERROR~~ RuntimeException: No OpenGL context found in the current thread." makes me think that this might deal with your graphics card drivers. Have you tried updating your graphics card drivers? If not that should be the first thing you should try. If it still doesn't work after that you might consider updating Java as well.

The final bit that you need is to just teleport the non-mod player, like so: tp @p ~ ~ ~ (of course, you're probably going to execute that command at the horse). This works because the teleport moves the target, and everything that is riding it, but not the things that the target is riding. But that's just the bit you were missing, my full solution is below. First things first, you're going to have to give your mod horses custom names. They can be unique, but it makes it easier if they're all the same. For my example, I'll just use "Mod Horse". Next, you'll need two scoreboard objectives, isRiding and isMod. I have to admit that I don't really like having to use the isMod objective, but for my solution to work, it's unavoidable. The final step is to have 4 command blocks triggered by a 20Hz fill clock. In order, those commands are: scoreboard players add @a isMod 0 scoreboard players set @a isRiding 0 scoreboard players set @a isRiding 1 {Riding:{CustomName:"Mod Horse"}} tp @a[score_isRiding_min=1,score_isMod=0] ~ ~ ~ The first command ensures that everyone always has a score in the isMod objective, the second and third commands reset the isRiding score, then set the score for anyone riding an entity named "Mod Horse" (this can be abused, by the way), and the fourth command teleports anyone riding a mod horse who isn't a mod to the same spot they were in, effectively knocking them off the horse. Of course, you're also going to have to set the isMod score for all your mods, but that's easy with /scoreboard players set isMod 1.

You can store the result of a command with /execute store. In this case: /execute as @a store result score @s gold run clear @s gold_ingot{coin:1} Then you can use that score for whatever you want. In this case you're just interested in whether it's 1 or more: /execute as @a if score @s gold matches 1.. run As a nice side effect, this also runs the function as every player who matches that condition. If you don't want that, use /execute if entity @a[scores={gold=1..}] run instead. Also, if you just want to check whether someone has an item (or how much of it), without actually taking it away, use the /clear command with a count of 0.

To cleanly uninstall Minecraft you need to remove the entire .minecraft folder. If you want to keep your worlds, move the saves folder somewhere else before deleting the folder. You can always drop it back in once you reinstall Minecraft and run it once to re-create the .minecraft folder. (The program you click isn't really Minecraft itself – it's just the launcher. You can get rid of it too if you want, but deleting it or not is separate from uninstalling Minecraft itself. It doesn't keep any settings or matter much, since it's just a convenience for launching the actual Minecraft program, which is stored in .minecraft. In fact, if you know how, you can start Minecraft without it entirely.) In particular, I think your texture pack options are causing the crash. I've had that happen before, with an old texture pack crashing the game after I updated it. I suspect that because, from your other question, it sounds like you were trying to use a 128x texture pack and it was crashing it. By choosing it, that choice is saved in your options.txt file in your .minecraft folder – deleting bin and resources will leave that intact! This option is probably what's crashing Minecraft. (Texture packs that are incompatible with the current version of Minecraft, or which are too large for your computer to handle well, can sometimes crash Minecraft.) To fix it, open options.txt (using a text editor) and find the line that begins with skin:. It should say "spahx" or something like that. Change the line to: skin:Default And then run Minecraft. It should work now, no un/re-install needed.
