How do I get to the desert?

I know I need the Angler Key from the desert, but beyond that, I am stumped. I haven't even figured out how to get to the desert, much less the key.

Ulira has told me the desert is in the southeast of the island, but I can't really figure out how to get there.

The Desert is in the South-west corner, as is documented in this wiki article. There is a detailed article as to how exactly to get into the desert. The basic steps are:
1. Try to find Marin. Start in Mabe Village.
2. Head to Toronbo Shores. There after some searching you will find Marin.
3. Head to the desert, and she will sing to the Walrus. That will cause the Walrus to move out of the way, allowing you access to the Desert.

First, as you may know, the Slime Eyes must first be found by slamming into a wall with the Pegasus Boots. Once that happens, you have to smack it in the middle until it is almost divided in two, then finish off with a Pegasus Boots charge. You'll know when it's thin enough when it seems to no longer react no matter how much you hit it. That will split it into two, and that's when you can start truly damaging the boss. I recommend equipping yourself with the Roc's Feather in addition to the sword now. Each time you strike one of the two halves of the boss, it will leap up, and then slam into the ground at another spot. Unless you jump, you'll get stunned when it lands, so that's half the reason why you have the Roc's Feather equipped. The other half is because it can offer you some safer mobility to dodge or attack the Slime Eyes (jump attacks are very potent for extending your range if you play your movements right) Try hitting them both at the same time with a Whirlwind Attack. Not only does this do substantial damage, but then both should rise mostly at the same time. This gives you a lot more breathing room than if you alternatingly strike them, or if you try to focus down one. Note that after hitting one, try to get close enough to strike one or two more times with normal slashes. There's a small window, but a window nonetheless, where you can sneak in additional hits before it flies up. They don't actually have a lot of health at this point, so it may only take as few as 2 rounds to vanquish the Slime Eyes. The main focus is on keeping the pressure off of you. As long as you make sure to jump when they land, and also avoid being smashed as they land, then the push back from your sword should always keep them at bay. Your best defense once they're on the ground is a strong offense, so don't concern yourself too much about dodging. If they get close, swing! If you still have trouble, by this point you should be able to purchase Secret Medicine from Crazy Tracy, located in Koholint Prairie that is south of Tal Tal Heights. This will heal you to full hearts should you lose them all.

This is a Fairy Spring. If you have taken damage, there should be a nice fairy there who will heal all of your hearts of damage. When you aren't harmed, however, it will just be empty. 'Tis why the statues are of fairies.

Each adventurer has a satisfaction stat (smiley face). This needs to be around at least 40-50 before they will consider moving into your town. Satisfaction can be increased by giving them gifts, especially new equipment that is better than their old one. You can either buy it from the shop or send your adventurers on dungeon runs to find you more loot.

Looks like this is a known glitch. Getting two shovels will require you to use up all your magic powder, bombs, or arrows in order to have room for the other items. If you use up all you magic powder, the game is rendered unbeatable. From the above link: The magic powder is not vital until towards the end of the game, so it is easy to miss the error (which results in the game becoming unbeatable).

Ok, the only way to get villagers to move to your town in Wild World other than by random chance is to talk to them while visiting other towns and have the other player on your Friends List. If you talk to them you might end up encouraging them to move to your town in the future. This is not guaranteed, but it is your best bet. As for visiting other towns, you can only do this at this time by finding another local player and visiting their town over system-to-system connection between the games as the Nintendo WFC service has been shut down for the DS (meaning, no Internet play). I hope this helps.

From Zeldapedia: Upon Link's arrival in a room, they remain stationary and do not attack until he approaches them. When he does so, the Pairodds will briefly disappear, teleporting to a different area of the room. As they reappear, they fire a projectile at Link, which can be deflected with the Shield. The trick to defeating a Pairodd is anticipating where it will reappear and being there to strike it as it reappears. If Link uses the Pegasus Boots, they can come within range of Link's sword before they ever have time to teleport out of reach; also, they may be defeated outright if Link charges at them with the Pegasus Boots while he has his sword equipped.

The Cattail isn't unlocked through normal play. It is an upgrade to the Lily Pad (which you automatically unlock at the start of the pool levels) and is available from Crazy Dave for $10000.

As of yesterday, bloodrizer made a change to award 1 paragon point per 1000 in-game years (about 9.26 real-time days). The changelog hasn't been updated; you'd only know about it by checking the latest source code changes. Some people are reporting on reddit that they're receiving a point too early; that particular bug will probably get fixed soon.

There are 4 mannequins that you can get in the game and the requirements are as follows: Purchase 51 items of clothing at Able Sisters and Mabel will give this to you Befriend Sable and she'll give you this after talking to her frequently Purchase at least one item on 31 different days from Labelle Receive from Gracie Note that if you accidentally sell one of these, you can never get it back! Each character gets 4, so you'd presumably be able to start another resident to unlock another should you accidentally sell one. However, you cannot trade mannequins between players in any way, so if you were indeed to accidentally delete one, you'd only have access to the mannequin on your other resident. Mannequins cannot be dropped and when attempting to attach one to a letter, I could not, as you can see below:

You should repair items before selling them, rather than selling many cheap weapons. There are two reasons for this: You don't need to go back to town as often; weapons get heavy pretty quickly. You will definitely make more money-per-minute-played, considering the time to get to town, sell your stuff, and get back to whatever hole-in-the-ground you were exploring. You'll make more money by repairing items together*. This is especially true when the weapons are under 25% quality. Once you hit a repair skill of 90 and level 14, it's worth picking up the Jury Rigging perk just so you can merge vaguely-similar weapons together (and convert the cheaper weapon into a higher quality on the more-expensive weapon). *This depends on your skill, of course. I don't have numbers to back me up, but if your skill is below 25 or so, you may lose money. (But you'll still make more money-per-minute-played, because you're not trudging back to town as often.)
