While I'm unsure whether it's possible to directly transfer one steam cloud to another, it's possible to do so in your local files. There are two occasions where the steam cloud synchronizes with the local files on the computer: Whenever a game is launched, the steam cloud is downloaded so that the local files are up to date with any other systems you've played on Whenever a game is closed, the local files are uploaded into the steam cloud so that other systems will be able to access the new saves you created. In short, if you want to transfer the save data from your brother's account into yours, here's what you should do: Find where the saves are stored for his account on your computer, this can vary a lot between games. Copy those files to where saves are stored for your account The next time you launch and close that game with your account, those files will be uploaded into your steam account.

I found the option - it is "Enable Cloud Saves" in the Gameplay menu.

This should now be possible through https://help.steampowered.com/en/accountdata thanks to GDPR, at least in part. Specifically the Steam Cloud link under the section "Uploaded Data".

I found those instructions to disable Borderlands 2 (I don't know if Factorio) from synchronizing save data with Steam Cloud here: In your Steam Library, right-click on Borderlands 2 and select "Properties." Click the "Updates" tab. Uncheck "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Borderlands 2." Click "Close." I imagine you already tried that, but it's all I found. If there's no other solution that's a pain in the ass, I assume save time will get even longer as your map keeps expanding, so I guess Steam will fix that for you if you ask, since it's their fault you can't really enjoy such a great game. CrossCode seems to be properly setup for Steam Cloud based on it's SteamDB page, so whatever save you got back from the Steam Cloud is the latest data it knows about. When you close a game on Steam that is setup for Steam Cloud if Steam Cloud is enabled for that game and Steam itself it will search for the save files and attempt to synch them with the Cloud. This can be hindered by a bad connection or Steam being down for maintenance and cause the synch to fail leaving you with Cloud data that is still outdated and local-only save data that is newer. After reformatting your PC there is a chance that save data still exists, but it's very minute and depending on the amount of time you had in-game it may take more to recover it by trying to use some forensic-quality software. To help tell which games (claim to) support Steam Cloud you can switch your client to List View mode using the controls slightly below your account name and the big picture button in the default Steam skin. Once in List View press the + at the top right of your Library List and make sure "Steam Cloud" is checked (on). This will show a column for games that support Steam Cloud where: A filled-in cloud symbol means Cloud is supported & enabled A cloud with a line through it means Cloud is supported & disabled No cloud means Cloud is not supported Then for any games which do not support Steam Cloud you can try to find their game save data location by checking their page on PCGamingWiki, which is -- as it says -- a wikipedia for games including information such as what settings it supports, bugfixes, and game save & configuration data locations. If you're comfortable with using junctions (like symbolic links) and use Windows you can try to use GameSave-Manager to help keep your game saves synched, but it doesn't know about all games & because of the junction/symbolic link usage can cause problems if you stop using it without properly deconstructing the junction/symbolic link setup.

Yes there is a way to disable Steam Cloud. To do so, go to Steam Settings->Cloud->Enable Steam Cloud synchronization.

What system do you have to identify the user? You only mentioned not using Steam login, but how will you do the authentication? How does the computer know "Bob" is playing the game instead of "Bill"? Whatever authentication method you're using, the save file will be managed within that system. Or the system lets them insert a USB key with their save files on it, and the system copies it over to the right folders, then deletes it when the session ends.

This depends on the game. Most games will store files that need to be arbitrarily saved in %localappdata% or %appdata%. This usually includes save files and mods if applicable. Some games will store save files in the user's user folder (e.g. C:\Users[YourUserName]\), or a subfolder of that (e.g. "My Saves", or "Documents"). I recommend searching for each of the games you want to keep your save files of to search online where the save files are kept. Afterwards you will need to put the save files back in the same place.

By the looks of it, it's per game, and you can follow the steps here to see how much you've used up and how much you have left. Having a read here it seams that when it's full - its full and nothing gets deleted ... Since your hard can support it (and to be honest save files aren't that large) I'd disable Cloud Save for that game.

The sync to steam cloud is handled by the game. You have no influence on what is synced and what not, unless you can configure it in the game (haven't seen this yet though). What you CAN do: If you know which files are responsible for these settings you can backup them to another location and copy them back when you need them changed. You can do this with a small script on doubleclick.

The main reason you have a mess is because steam was syncing 800 mb of data. This takes a while to upload. To clean them up, you'll have to let steam finish doing the sync, start the game, and, with the game running, delete and/or restore your save files, then shut down the game and let steam sync.

If there is a conflict with the save files, Steam will ask you whether you want to keep the cloud saves or local saves. This will occur with every computer that has greatly different save files.

Some games will keep your save data in a separate folder such as your documents folder on your computer, which means you shouldn't lose the data in those cases when you uninstall. I also believe the Steam Cloud feature sure work on most titles in terms of keeping your save data. But as Ben said it's always recommended to manually find the save yourself and copy it just to be safe.

For those looking for the 'nuclear' option - i.e. wanting to completely reset TF2, here's what I found works in order to reset TF2 to defaults: Caution: This will remove everything not tied to your Steam account, including Mods, HUDs, Configs/Scripts, as well as Graphics/Sound and Advanced settings. It will not reset your achievements or playtime stats. 1. Temporarily disable TF2's Steam Cloud Sync Right Click on TF2 -> Properties -> Updates -> Uncheck 'Enable Steam Cloud synchronisation': 2. Remove the "cfg" folder Located at \Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\ 3. Remove anything in the "custom" folder Don't remove the whole folder, just anything inside it 4. Put "-autoconfig" in TF2's launch options Right Click on TF2 -> Properties -> General -> Set Launch Options 5. Start TF2 At this point everything will reset to default. You can now quit the game, reenable Steam Cloud & remove the '-autoconfig' launch option.

You can go to Account Preferences and find the "Platform Preferences" part at the bottom of the page. Pick the platforms you want to see games for (in your case, Windows and macOS) and click save. Steam Store should show games that are available for both operating systems now.

You will want to bring back a backup copy of the file at Steam\userdata\\7\remote\serverbrowser_hist.vdf. Note that if you just replace the favorites list in Steam\userdata\\7\remote\serverbrowser_hist.vdf with your backup and restart Steam, it just gets replaced with the newer version with everything cleared. That's because remotecache.vdf has a hash, time, and date of the newer file and asks Steam for that newer copy when it finds an old copy of our file. In order to tell Steam that we actually have the newer copy, we'll need to exit Steam and "touch" serverbrowser_hist.vdf so that Steam believes that it was just modified and that it needs to sync with the cloud to upload those changes. To do this, open Command Prompt and type this in to go to the folder that contains serverbrowser_hist.vdf: cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata[your id]\7\remote After we go to the folder, we'll update the "date modified" time to the current time: copy serverbrowser_hist.vdf /B+ ,,/Y Start Steam, and you're all set!

After some investigation I have found that the Godus is not supported on the Steam Cloud. But, you can still manually find the save file from your steam folder. In the game library on Steam, right click on Godus in the list of games in the sidebar. Select "Properties" and then click the "Local Files" tab in the "Godus - Properties" window. Click "Browse local files..." You should see a "windows" folder or an equivalent folder on the Mac version. Open that folder. The save files are the following files in that folder: (Note: on OSX 10.7.5 the files are inside the user's godus application support folder and not inside any of the steam folders: "~/Library/Application Support/godus/") state.back state.bin And possibly a number of files like statebackup0001.bin You will also need to look in the folder named something like prf110000100a1858b which is where the saves are kept. By transfering these files to your second PC, you should be able to pick up where you left off. Of course if you do not like the manual proccess you can always use Dropbox to store the saved directory, replacing the original directories on both PCs with Symbolic Links.
