I am using ScpToolkit just fine. Sometimes it has a few hickups when the controller disconnects from the PC, but besides that, everything is fine. This video seems to include everything needed for the setup

By default, most games do not have controller support. Some of them do, especially newer ones. As time goes on more and more PC games are coming stock with controller support. A majority of them implement it very poorly, while very few actually have good (and customizable) controller support. I recommend using a third party solution globally regardless of what game you play (whether it has support or not) for one very important reason. The solution I will present to you, gives you 100% customization options, full support for all games, and comes pre-stocked with different "profiles" you can find to fill out controller controls per game. Most are done by other gamers who have built them on their own while playing the game, and they get community ratings and supports so you can find out which ones are widely used, and liked. I have used controller support apps before that were free, and they never had the same level of customization, or power. They also don't feature the nicely built profile system to easily get new profiles instead of having to build the profile controls yourself. I personally stopped using the controller for most games on PC (even though I use an Alienware laptop). I started realizing that with a little bit of getting use to, most of the time the keyboard/mouse combo works the best, as that was how they were originally designed. It sounds like your controller requires calibration, so I made this image on how to do it. Also, it sounds to me like you are using xpadder even though I am 99% sure NFS:MW supports a controller, thus it is conflicting with xpadder, because you are trying to control the game with both the controller and keyboard (xpadder). Is there a reason you use xpadder?

You probably could have unlocked it with motionJoy if you had done so earlier. As per the SteamMachines page: On October 25th, the list will be locked. So complete the quest before then! Since that date has come and gone, you seem to have missed your chance.

Tips for people who are using DS3 Tool and the Mini USB cord. Disable vibration - On the homepage of DS3 Tool there is a Motor slider % and you need to set this to 0 on both left and right motors (zero). This is the main cause for wired disconnections. The internal motors will loosen the Mini Usb port connection on the top of the controller. Physically move the controller with a casual motion up and down to test the Mini USB connection - If your PS3 controller is still having problems with disconnections, it might be a worn out Mini USB port on the controller port itself from using the cord for previous usage charging the controller.

You may want to take a look at XInput Wrapper for DS3. It does turn your PS3 controller into an XInput device so you can map the buttons basically in any application/game supporting the XInput library. Combined with Pokopom's XInput Pad Plugin you should be very fine. I haven't tried it for myself but I've heard from quite a few people that it works very well.

This is how you disconnect: If you open the DS3 window, you will see a menu bar. Click "Profiles" In the bottom, there will be a button saying; "Disconnect" I hope this will fix your problem.

Sounds like you haven't got the driver installed. Check Game controllers in Windows Control panel see if the pad is recognized. In the MotioninJoy app go to the drivers page and install the driver with your pad plugged in. I'd also recommend trying Better DS3 Instead of Xpadder. EDIT only if you have to use the chinese Driver, otherwise use XInput Wrapper for DS3 as its much cleaner

You can play it with a ps3 controller, you just need some special drivers. You can save yourself the headache and get a Logitech F-510 for F-310 (same pad, but no rumble) which is XInput compatible and looks/feels like a PS3 Controller. Any other XInput compatible GamePad works the same way. XInput compatible means you can play all games which claim "XBOX Support" without hassle.

The best solution to this problem, honestly, is to switch from the MotionInJoy drivers to something else. I use SCPToolkit with my PS3 controller and since I switched from MotionInJoy I haven't had any problems with crashing or BSOD at all. I know it's not exactly the answer you're looking for, but hopefully that helps.

You could try JoyToKey and map keypresses to your PS3 gamepad. I never played Braid so I don't know much about its input support.

Because the PS3 game controller never was designed to be used with a computer, there have never been any computer games that has visualized the PS3 game controller button mapping layout. Microsoft's close relationship to PCgaming (also through enabling it with extra accessory) has enabled the company to integrate the layout of the Xbox controller in most games. Sony's PlayStation division never wanted anything to do with PC gaming, Microsoft enabled it out of the box with their 360 Wired controller. Your request is not possible without serious modding (in which case basically anything can be done).

You probably aren't emulating a Xbox controller with MotioninJoy, so the game won't recognize the axis input. This image shows how to do it:

I managed to find something that works for me, and it appears that the answer was right under my nose. The DS3 tool's main window has a "disconnect" button, as can be seen here on the lower left: As long as I make sure to press it before shutting down my computer, the controller stays dormant and doesn't bother my PS3.
