Back in January 2022 when the OP asked the question, I had the same issue while pasting images with Chrome using the Paste option after using Copy image (but not with Kiwi browser, see comments). For little money there are USB-Amperemeters. They measure the current [mA] that flows through them and also cummulate the energy, measured in milliampere-hours [mAh]. Under USB preferences, whichever device has Charge connected device as enabled is charging the other device.
